Semifinals Set for Friday at BCA Open by InsidePOOL Staff The BCA Open 9-Ball Championships wound down this evening, leaving o­nly three players left in both the men’s and the women’s divisions.  This event is hosted by the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV, and will feature two televised matches o­n Friday and Saturday both. In the women’s division, defending champion Karen Corr was sent to the o­ne-loss side courtesy of the WPBA’s number-one ranked player, Allison Fisher.  The two met in the hot seat match, where Fisher dominated the match 9-3.  The men’s division saw the UPA’s number-one ranked player, Johnny “The Scorpion” Archer triumph over former world champion Thorsten Hohmann of Germany.  Also a lopsided match, Archer swept ahead early in the night to an 11-3 victory. In the quarterfinals, Tiffany Nelson and Ewa Mataya Laurance matched up to see who would meet Corr in the TV match o­n Friday night.  This match went all the way to the hill, with the WPBA president eventually coming out the 9-8 winner.  Former world champion Mika “Iceman” Immonen won his quarterfinal match against Germany’s Andreas Roschkowsky.  From a 5-1 deficit, Immonen came back to tie the match at 7-all and then surpass his opponent to win 11-7.  Immonen will play Hohmann in Friday’s televised match.
